Below is a list of ingredients that you may want to have on-hand if you plan to cook along with the presenters. Alternatively, you can just watch and cook later closer to Purim.

Ingredients for Food for Thought: Purim Edition

Garlic Bread Hamentashen: Lila Weiner

Dough:

  • 3/4 c warm water
  • 1/2 Tbsp (1 packet) instant yeast
  • 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 – 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt

Garlic Bread Filling:

  • 1 stick (4 oz) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan (option to use mozzarella instead or in addition)
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley

1 egg yolk

 

Pizza-tashen: Margot Botwinick

Any store bought dough (ex. – מעדנות has a frozen roll called בצק לפיצה מרודד)

½ cup marinara sauce

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

¼ cup Parmesan cheese

1 cup of your favorite chopped up veggies. My favorites include onion, tomato, corn and garlic.

Meat Hamentashen: Henny Shor

Pastry dough – בצק עלים

Sautéed onions

Ground beef

Salt and pepper

Olive oil

Egg

Hot dog Hamentashen: Sara Berelowitz

1 cup corn flour (קמח תירס)

1 1/4 cups flour

1/3 cup sugar

1 tsp baking powder

1/8 tsp salt

1/3 cup of oil

2 large eggs

1/3 cup soy or almond milk

Hot dogs and mustard

Classic Hamentashen: Maya Wadler

Depending how much you want, you can half this.

4 eggs

1 ¼ cup sugar

1 cup oil

1 tsp vanilla

½ tsp salt

3 tsp baking powder

4-4.5 cup flour
