Dealing with the stresses and demands of everyday life, many women find it hard to find ways to keep inspired. The Rosh Chodesh Women’s Seminar aims to provide a burst of inspiration to English-speaking women living in Yerushalayim and beyond. Each Rosh Chodesh, women of all ages join us for an intense morning, full of Torah learning and inspiration. Four different speakers teach a variety of topics relating to the upcoming month from different perspectives – Tanach, Halacha, Hashkafa, and personal inspiration. Ranging from more textual classes to more inspirational, the women walk away with a fresh perspective, a feeling of hitchadshut, which rejuvenates them and impacts their entire month. Brunch and refreshements are provided, allowing the women a chance to socialize and meet a cadre of like-minded women. Free babysitting is offered on-site so that young mothers are able to join. On average, we have an attendance rate of about 80 women per seminar – women from all walks of lives, from all around Israel and even abroad, and from a whole array of religious backgrounds. There are women who attend from all across Yerushalayim – Har Nof, Katamon, Rechavia, Nachlaot, Ramot and more- as well as from many other cities and yishuvim around Israel including Alon Shvut, Yad Binyamin, Mitzpe Yericho, Efrat, Maaleh Adumim, and Bet Shemesh. Some even come from as far away as Beer Sheva, Petach Tikva, and Maalot. We have young mothers on maternity leave and stay-at-home moms, we have middle-aged women who take a day off of work for the program, and retirees who are happy to have the time to devote to Torah learning. The range of teachers allows us to reach out to a broad audience in terms of level, hashkafa, and style of learning. This program is uniting women in a way that is very unique and many friendships have been formed between participants.
Below are some testimonials from program participants –
“I wanted to tell you again how much I have been enjoying the women’s Rosh Chodesh initiative you have organized at the OU Center. You have created a perfect balance of learning – hashkafa, halacha, practical and spiritual. The speakers, their insights, their depth of knowledge on the subjects is so impressive. The shiurim add so much to my day-to-day and strengthening my connection to Hashem and all those around me! Thanking for sharing the potential of each month with us in such a meaningful way! The programs have become a highlight of my month and I look forward to coming with a group of women from my community for a morning of learning.” – Ammi Dorevich
“Thank you for putting together such thoughtful, interesting, worthwhile programs and making it so affordable. Your introduction, the variety of learning and teachers, along with the brunch and the babysitting, is such a special gift. I hope that you will continue to do this!” – Nicole Levine
