Battles & Guardposts on Israel’s Southern Frontier with Rabbi Alan Haber
Explore Israel’s southern frontier – the gateway protecting Jerusalem from invasions from the south. Our journey will take us through battles and wars that, though separated from each other by up to 3000 years, share many uncanny and profound similarities. Gain a deeper understanding of Israel’s defense needs and gratitude for miraculous victories in both ancient and modern times.
Begin at Tel Azeka with an outlook over the Elah Valley – scene of King David’s famous victory over Goliath and the Philistines
Continue on to Bet Guvrin National Park, and see remains of settlements and fortresses from the First & Second Temple, Roman and Crusader periods
Conclude in Kibbutz Negba and the Givati Museum at the Yoav Fortress to see scenes of heroic battles between the Egyptian army and the fledgling IDF in 1948.
