Thanks for your interest in the OU Israel Mother-Daughter pre-Chagim program! If you have any questions, contact zemiraoz@ouisrael.org
This program currently runs simultaneously in 6 communities and we are now ready to offer it to additional communities. The program takes place six times a year, before each chag, and is geared for girls ages 9-12 and their mothers. It allows them to bond through Torah learning and art, in preparation for the upcoming holiday.
Girls and mothers across the country learn the same material at the same time and then participate in a nationwide Kahoot competition to review the material. This is followed by an art project connected to what was learned.
How it works:
- Locate and secure a venue in your community (who is willing to host this program free of charge) — this can be a shul, matnas, school, youth room, private home, etc. You will need a space with tables and chairs suitable for art projects, plus a projector and screen (or white wall/sheet) and wifi (optional – snacks and drinks).
- Find a woman in your community who is willing to facilitate the program on a volunteer basis. This can be one of the mothers but doesn’t have to be. She will receive all the learning materials.
- Contact us at zemiraoz@ouisrael.org or 052-607-0764 and let us know approximately how many girls you expect, where it will be held, and who will facilitate. If you don’t have all the details yet, feel free to just be in touch and update us later.
- Choose a time to run the program: Any evening from 7-9:30pm the week of Jan. 18.
- Registration: Girls and mothers will register on our website and pay a participation fee of 40 NIS per pair to cover costs. We will deliver the source sheets and art supplies to you in time for the program.
- We will stay in touch with the facilitators to give notes and instructions about the learning material and the art project.
