When the US. Ambassador to Israel Drums on a Darbuka
THOMAS NIDES MADE A SPECIAL VISIT TO THE CITY CENTER OF JERUSALEM, WHERE HE ALSO ARRIVED AT THE ZULA – A DROP IN CENTER FOR YOUTH AT RISK RUN BY OU ISRAEL. THE AMBASSADOR’S TOUR AT THE ZULA WAS ORGANIZED BY OU ISRAEL’S DIRECTOR GENERAL, RABBI AVI BERMAN, WHO SAID: “THE AMBASSADOR WAS IMPRESSED BY OUR BLESSED WORK.”
A special visit was made in downtown Jerusalem on Thursday night, Thomas Nides, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, visited the Zula – a drop in center for youth at risk, which is intended for girls and young men and is located near Zion Square in Jerusalem. The Zula is a youth club run by “OU Israel” located in the center of Jerusalem and is intended to be a warm home for youth in need, especially from religious homes.The Ambassador’s tour of the Zula was organized by the Director General of OU Israel, Rabbi Avi Berman, who showcased the Drop-In Center’s history for the Ambassador since it was established by Harel Chezroni, the Zula’s Founder and has since become an “empire” and an iconic Jerusalem institution with a quality and professional team that does wonders in the field of rehabilitating youth at risk.
The visit was joined by Yehuda Neuberger, chairman of the OU’s executive committee, Stuart Hershkowitz – a member of the Board of Directors of OU Israel and Nathan Diamant – OU representative in Washington.
