Night of Inspiration and Chizuk at The Zula with Singer Binny Landau

OU Israel’s Pearl & Harold Jacobs Zula Outreach Center in downtown Yerushalayim is many things. The Zula is a safe, nurturing environment for at-risk teens and young adults. It is a respite for youth involved in substance abuse and estranged from their families. It is a place for spiritual growth and being accepted with unconditional love. Recently, The Zula was also host to popular Israeli Singer Binny Landau who lifted the spirits of the hundreds of Zula participants in attendance.

Landau’s soulful music, which he played late into the night, inspired adolescents searching for meaning. With dim lights and candles, the ambiance was relaxed, leading to dancing and jumping with elation as the music took the youth to new levels of spiritual connection.

This event, a Night of Inspiration and Chizuk at The Zula in Memory of Sy Kraut Z”L, was donated in memory of former OU board member Sy Kraut by his loving wife Rochelle. “Sy cared deeply about helping youth and Eretz Yisrael,” said Rabbi Avi Berman, Executive Director of OU Israel. “Many of The Zula participants are from Yerushalayim and Yehuda V’Shomron, including a large amount that were expelled from their homes in Gush Katif and surrounding Yishuvim. It was important that the event we ran in his memory connect to his remarkable values.”
